The Law Of Rewards
This was a fast read. Among other things, it had three Biblical truths that I was shocked to have missed up until now:
1) The degree to which we'll get to individually enjoy Heaven is determined by how we live here on earth.
2) God wants to reward us and bless our lives both today and in eternity, but we can cut ourselves short of receiving those in full.
3) We can use our money to store up treasures on earth and enjoy them for a while, or we can use our money to store up treasures in Heaven and enjoy them forever.
Revolution
Barna gives an insightful observation of what's changing within the Church today. We seem to be getting back to the simplicity of "relationships" rather than empty rules, traditions, and church politics. Someone once said, "If you don't like change, then you’re going to hate irrelevance even more!"
The Unusual Suspect
I always love to hear about when God reaches someone who had everything this world can offer. This is a great testimony of an amazing God who “so loved the world” and who never gives up on pursuing our heart – from the moment we were born to our last day on earth.
Also, Baldwin has an energetic and fresh approach to how the church can reach this generation.
The 4 Hour Workweek
So, it is possible to make a sustainable income without overloading one's life with long hours and stressful work! There are some creative ideas in this book on how to maximize the limited time we have when the sun is still shining.
Eat This Book
Reading the Bible is the most sufficient way to listen to God speak to us on a daily basis. Even more, God gave us the Bible as a means to transform and grow us into our fullest potential. Reaching our destiny and getting the most out of life is only possible when we become more like Jesus Christ. Life is best lived here - living like Jesus did, loving others as He did, and knowing God like He did.
However, this growth is not natural or normal. It takes our time and discipline, and we easily get sidetracked - especially with our busy lifestyles today.
It is possible to learn how to read the Bible in such a way that it renews us every time we open it, showing us a little more of and about God than we knew before.
The secret to answered prayer is praying according to God's Word. The secret to a life without stress or anxiety or fear is living according to God's Word. Peterson does a great job of opening the reader's eyes on "how to" read the Bible.
The Enemy At Home
You might be surprised to find out why some of the biggest terrorist groups in the world hate America. It's not for the reasons we hear about on CNN, MSNBC, and from those on the extreme left.
D'Souza is quickly becoming one of the top Christian thinkers of our time. He is brilliant politically, philosophically, and apologetically.
Heaven
Heaven and Hell are very, very real. And...guess what? Heaven is not a boring place where we sit on clouds and sing in a choir. The Bible tells us that Heaven is so much more.
I would be surprised if you have a question or curiosity about Heaven that won't be answered in this reading.
The Daily Drucker
Peter Drucker is truly the "father of modern management." Decades of successful executives, entrepreneurs, and business authors owe their careers to this guy.
This book is 366 days of wise leadership and management action steps. It will help you systematically build innovation and growth into your business or non-profit organization.
Drucker is an incredible social observer and student. I love every moment in this book and I practice his principles daily.
The Blessings Of Brokeness
This is the best book to read for anyone who is going through a difficult time in life, or if you know someone who is facing great difficulty and you want to help them.
Charles Stanley writes about how God walks with us through pain and suffering and then leads us into a bigger and better future than we could ever ask for or imagine. This book helped me to understand why bad things happen and how we can get through them.
Sometimes God has to prepare us before we’re ready to receive the best things life has to offer. Otherwise, they can easily be wasted or missed.
The Lone Survivor
I stayed up till 3:00am reading this book two nights in a row. The passion and dedication of a true warrior to surrender one's life to a noble cause is not celebrated enough these days.
This book filled me with a sense of ambition. It gave me ambition to always push myself beyond my own self-perceived limitations. That’s what distinguishes Navy SEALs as the most elite Special Forces group in the world.
It’s a real modern day true story about perseverance and endurance when all that is left in you is the will to keep going.
Die Broke
Our culture sets us up for financial failure. This idea of borrowing so you can "spend" and "acquire" only leads in one direction - ruin. How we manage our finances impacts virtually every area of life. You can't reach your full God-designed potential if money (debt) is your master. Life was meant to be enjoyed, not drained from us by the things in it.
Believe it or not it's possible to in live this day in age without becoming a slave to your mortgage, car loans, college loans, and credit cards.
I found good answers in this book, and the steps necessary to build a recession resistant financial foundation.
